Find a More Stable Revenue Model

The traditional subscription-based model has become less popular in recent years. And depending entirely on microtransactions doesn’t seem to work either.

So to stay relevant, MMORPGs need to explore alternative revenue models that strike a balance between generating income and providing a fair and enjoyable experience for players.

This could include options like cosmetic microtransactions, season passes, or a combination of approaches. 

Integrate VR and AR Technologies

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality have the potential to revolutionize the MMORPG experience. Movies and anime like Ready Player One and Sword Art Online are based on this concept and without a doubt, they looked promising. 

Of course, those are fictional works so we can’t expect the same level of realism but hey, at least, we won’t get trapped either or so we hope.
